Every governmental action has its consequences. While pundits often talk about the unintended consequences of official intervention in our lives, whether it be by new layers of regulation, changes in tax policy or the imposition of new healthcare mandates, others argue that these assertions of government power and control have, as their ultimate purpose, those very consequences. Indeed, those ancillary or side effects of governmental action are often the intended consequences of those acts. This blog will strive to discuss in a thoughtful way those actions by our political leaders which are designed to achieve a certain policy goal or otherwise produce a certain desired effect – their intended consequences.
